The JavaServer Pages (JSP) technology allows web developers to easily create dynamic web content. JSP consists of the Standard Tag Libraries (JSTL) and user-defined Tag libraries. Tag libraries provide users with a way to add reusable web components to their projects. Teradata Viewpoint contains several tag libraries that provide common functionality used within the Viewpoint portlets.

JSP tags are evaluated on the server before the page is rendered in the browser. Once the tags are evaluated, the HTML content is dynamically inserted in the page where the JSP code was and is displayed by the browser.

See the How to Use JSP and JSTL in Your View for an example of using JSP tags in your portlet.
