The follwing is not clear to me: We have value ordering for Join Indexes, but at the same time the Join index has a Primary Index and is ROWHASH distributed. For me this means, Master Index and Cylinder Index carry the information about on which Data Blocks a searched ROWHASH can be found. This is done with a binary search on MI/CI.

There may be a discussion already in this forum about Hash and Join Index.

Still I am creating this post because I want to clarify few queries for my own understanding.

 

I am creating a HASH INDEX: here the PI of the table is (emp_id)

 

5464: Error en JOIN INDEX DLL, Cannot create this index over a view.

I could indicate the correct way to create them.

I have several questions about the delay in execution of this query.

Scenario:

I am attempting to build a rather simple join index with the following ddl, but am receiving an error:

5464: ... only satisifiable conditions that have a constant...

Might there be some insights that you can offer?

Does anybody have a way to create a join index that includes table aliases in the join index definition? For example:

CREATE JOIN INDEX JI_TABLE_ALIASES, NO FALLBACK, CHECKSUM = DEFAULT AS

ALIAS2.FIELD1,
SUM(TABLEB.AMT) AS AMT

AND TABLEB.KEY2 = ALIAS2.KEY1;

When I try to create a multi table join index similar in design to the one illustrated above, I get the following error:

5464: Error in Join Index DDL, Self joins are not allowed
