Teradata Studio Express provides an information discovery tool that retrieves data from Teradata Database systems and allows the data to be manipulated and stored on the desktop. It is built on the Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP). For more information on Teradata Studio Express, refer to Teradata Studio Express User Guide.

Teradata AI Assistant (Beta Preview) – Teradata Studio Express 20.00.00.10

This Teradata Studio Express will include Teradata AI Assistant, a plugin available in beta preview, designed to streamline your database management and accelerate SQL development. This assistant acts as a natural language bridge to your data, allowing you to focus on high-level analysis rather than syntax details. Users may opt to install the AI Assistant plugin if they don't wish to proceed.

Natural Language to SQL: Generate complex, accurate queries by describing your requirements in plain English. The assistant translates your intent into optimized SQL specific to Teradata. Beyond query generation, the assistant provides real-time explanations for queries and suggests immediate performance optimizations.

Bring Your Own Key (BYOK): To ensure maximum flexibility, the assistant operates on a "Bring Your Own Key" model. Users can seamlessly connect to their preferred AI provider, such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or GitHub Copilot, using their existing corporate or personal API credentials.

Notes: 

From version 20.00.00.05, Teradata Studio Express no longer supports the connections to Hadoop and Aster databases.

From Teradata Studio Express 20.00.00.10, the AI Assistant feature is available as an optional component. This feature is not installed by default and must be explicitly selected during installation to enable AI Assistant functionality in Teradata Studio Express.

Teradata Studio 20.00.00.10 and above requires Java 21.

Teradata Studio Express 17.20 will work with Java 11 or 17, and versions 20.00.00.00 through 20.00.00.09 will work with Java 11 or 17 or 22. Download Java 11 or 17 or 22 from any Java Vendor distributor downloads page. Below section provides the information about how to download and install Azul Java. For other distributions, please refer to their respective downloads page.

Depending on Operating System, download either JDK or JRE and Install it. ARM 64 JDK support is available only from version 20.00.00.05, for Apple Silicon M1 and M2.

Azul Zulu OpenJDK/JRE Installation

Teradata Studio Express 17.10 or below versions will work with either Java 8/11. Download either Java 8/11 from any Java Vendor distributor downloads page. Below section provides the information about how to download and install Azul Java. For other distributions, please refer to their respective downloads page.
