It looks like you are running with DTP 1.6.2, which there are known incompatibilities. We are currently supporting DTP 1.6.1 with Eclipse 3.4.1.

What version of the Teradata Plug-in are you running with? Also what version of Eclipse?
thanks

Just to clarify, the previous version of Teradata Plug-in, version 13.00, supports Eclipse 3.4.1 and DTP 1.6. The new version of Teradata Plug-in, version 13.01, supports Eclipse 3.5 and DTP 1.7. If you have upgrade to Eclipse 3.5 and DTP 1.7, make sure you have installed Teradata Plug-in 13.01.

Hi,

I am using Eclipse 3.7.1 and tried to install teradata plugin and got the following error

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
Software being installed: Teradata Java Development Feature 13.11.0.201105251120 (com.teradata.datatools.

javadevelopmentFeature.feature.group 13.11.0.201105251120)
Missing requirement: Teradata Java Development Feature 13.11.0.201105251120 (com.teradata.datatools.javadevelopmentFeature.feature.group 13.11.0.201105251120) requires 'org.eclipse.datatools.sqltools.db.generic 0.0.0' but it could not be found

Can you please guide me how to solve the problem.

Thanks

@waqas,

Our current version of Teradata Plug-in for Eclipse, 13.11, is not certified with Eclipse 3.7.1. We plan to have a release out before the end of the year that support Eclipse 3.7.1 and DTP 1.9.1.  Teradata Plug-in for Eclipse 13.11 support Eclipse 3.6.2 and 3.5.2.

Hi,

I have been successfully using the TD Eclipse plugin (thank you !) until just today. I reinstalled the toolchain, using a new workspace and install path with no changes.

Thanks in advance with any assistance.

@itarashis, a Google search of this problem's root exception led me to a discussion on a forum (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5862028/tomcat-not-starting-with-64bit-java) that had the same exception coming from the same location as yours.

The resolution to that problem was that there was a mismatch between the preference set in Eclipse to use the 64-bit JRE but the runtime environment had the 32-bit JRE. Could that be going on with you?

@chuckbert - That's a good point and thanks for checking into it. I'm running XP with Helios SR2 out of the box. The local machine JRE is 1.6.0 variety. Eclipse starts and the default SQL Explorer work just fine (ie connecting to Oracle), but the TD plugin fails at various initiation points.

I am able to run helios SR2 with no errors/exceptions once the TD Plugins are uninstalled. I am also able to use the Teradata Database explorer to navigate around and view the definitions for all db objects (views, tables, users, etc..). I can even submit a SQL to successfully run on the server - it's the resultset that really kicks off the error chain.

My guess is something changed on my machine (on a corp network) that gets 'updated' with each reboot. Still, it is extremely curious why a vanilla install of the TD plugin (local install) is, all of a sudden, not playing nice. It could also be a TD server upgrade, such as not including native XML support, that is causing the plugin to crash.

Nonetheless, I am missing my TD development tool of choice and cringing evey time I hit the 'happy feet' to run my code in SQL Assitant for Windows.

The first indication of an error is a Key Binding warning in the console:

Warning

A conflict occurred for ALT+SHIFT+X R:Binding(ALT+SHIFT+X R,

ParameterizedCommand(Command(org.eclipse.rap.ui.launch.RAPLaunchShortcut.run, ...

The second indication is that Teradata SQL History failes with the following:

Unable to create view ID com.teradata.datatools.sqldev.history.views.TeradataSQLHistory: Plug-in com.teradata.datatools.sqldev.history was unable to load class com.teradata.datatools.sqldev.history.view.HistoryViewPart.

It's all downhill from there.

@itarashis, Another thing to try is to bring up Eclipse with a new, clean workspace, run your query and see if the SQL History View comes up OK or has the same problem.

One more thought...we've had another mysterious problem that seemed to have resolved itself by a reboot.

The java.lang.NoSuchFieldError that is being thrown indicates that a field in a class that was around when the referencing class was compiled is not available in the the class that is currently in the classpath. Perhaps a DLL from an earlier installation of Java is still in memory after an automatic update occurred.

But then, you say your automatic updates occur on a reboot.

This issue was resolved by upgrading the JDK/JRE from 1.6.20 to 1.6.29. It is not always the easiest task to get that upgrade done in a corporate environment. The Eclipse plugin and SQLA Java Edition both are fully functional. Thank you again for taking the time to look into the issue and for the great toolchain.

Thanks for letting us know that you got the problem resoved by upgrading Java. We'll try to see what changed between your old and new versions of Java that fixed the problem.
