Converting Binary extracted file using TPT to ASCII?

Hi All,
i know i should ask this question in some unix forums but still if anyone here has any ideas please help me.
I have extracted a table in binary format using TPT, now i want to convert this to ASCII format is there any command that will do this ?? and NO i cant extract in ASCII format directly its consuming more Database resources when compared to binary extraction.
Thanks in advance!

you are right ;-)
try google and search binary to ascii linux
I saw some possible solutions there.
How big was the difference (binary compared to ascii) on your system?

Hi Ulrich,
The problem is eventhough its binary, while exporting TPT adds some additional information it seems
Taken from the TPT documentation
• 'Binary' = 2-byte integer, n, followed by n bytes of data. In this format:
• The data is prefixed by a record-length marker.
• The record-length marker does not include the length of the
marker itself.
• The record-length is not part of the transmitted data.

So its not plain and simple right? use some command and convert the binary to ascii?? We need to strip/use those information to convert right?
Thats why raised here if anyone has encounterd it here.

Do you use any ETL tool for the file processing?
Given your comments so far I would assume not and in this case I doubt it will be more efficient to do the past processing instead of exporting directly texts...
It can be done but it's not fun ;-)

TPT DataConnector 14.10 and 14.00.00.08 supports delimited output without casting all columns to Varchars.
This will not add much overhead on server side as the conversion in done on the client.
