How get the Hadoop System option in New Connection Profile.

I am trying to connect Mapr Hadoop and Teradata using TDCH. I have successfully installed the TDCH on MapR Hadoop.
Now I want to create new Connection Profile, but I am unable to see the Hadoop System option in Teradata studio 15. Please tell me how to get it.

Mayur, We have not certified Studio with Mapr Hadoop. Aside from that, the Connection Profile is launched from the Data Source Explorer, right click on Database Connections>New or from the Data Source Explorer toolbar (New Connection Profile).

Are you running Studio or Studio Express? Are there any exceptions in the teradata.log, located in your <workspace directory>/.metadata/Teradata directory?

Mayur, Teradata Studio Express does not support Hadoop. You will need to download our Teradata Studio product to get the Hadoop and Hadoop Smart Load features.

@fgrimmer:
I would like to know why Teradata Studio Express does not support hadoop? I could see there is a connection for HDP but Genric Hadoop system shows as Unsuported.

My understanding is Express is for Developer and Business people. Why hadoop is not supported here?
Studio is for DBA and Power USer which supports Generic Hadoop with web hdfs but if we want to distribute it to the user we don`t want to give them DBA functioanlity. Is it possible to turn off DBA from studio?

Soumya, Starting in version 15.10, Studio Express supports Hadoop connections for running HiveQL SQL (JDBC).  If it is showing up in Unsupported, it's possible that the connection profile was imported and contained non Studio Express options. Can you try creating a Connection Profile using the Connection Profile Wizard, choosing the JDBC or Knox option.

@fgrimmer:  We are tryiing to rollout Teradata Studio Express for all the users. I would like to present it to all the audiance and talk about good thing. What we can do in Express. Some of the topics i can cover about connection to Oracle, SQL server, Aster.
The only thing i am missing is connection to Hadoop.  I see connection to Horton Work is there but i would like to use it for Cloudera for Query only.
If i wish to demonstarte hadoop connectivity to user then i want to make sure TD Studio express can connect to Cloudera. I can`t say it will connect to Horton Works and can`t connect to Cloudera. We are uisng Cloudera and it make no sense to us demonstarate HDP connectivity.
I am getting more confused because Why TD Studio can connect to Clodera but TD Studio express can`t.

Could you please let me know if i want to connect to Cloudera how i should do it using TD Studio Express. We want to user to query from Cloudera uisng TD studio express.
That way we can push user to use TD Studio Express to connect to Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, Aster and Cloudera.

Comming to Hadoop Generic Systems in TD Studio Express:
I don`t know how it is showing in one of my PC. I tried to install TD Studio Express in another PC but i did not able to see   Hadoop Generic Systems in other PC. Both of Express Version is same.

Teradata Studio Express

Version: 15.10.00.02.201506221655

I did not able see Knox or JDBC option for Hadoop Generic Systems by righ clicking. I have attached the snapshot of the image.

Soumya, We are adding support for Cloudera (Impala HiveQL driver) to our upcoming Studio Express 15.11 release. As I mentioned above, the Unsupported entry comes from importing a connection profile that is not supported by your Studio Express. You will need to recreate those connection profiles using the Connection Profile Wizard. You should see the Knox and JDBC options for Hadoop Hortonworks.

@fgrimmer: Thank you for the infiomatin ie  Studio Express 15.11  will support Cloudera. We will wait for it.
For Horton Work connection profile i could see KNOX and JDBC.  Can i use Hortonwork connection profile to connect to Cloudera or it will have a problem.
Thank you for all of your help and have a great week end.

Soumya, I am not sure. Studio uses WebHCat to discover the database information, database and tables, for the DSE so that should work OK. But not sure about the HiveQL connection support provided on your Cloudera system.
