newbie question getting started

Hi!

I am developer and I am new to TeraData

I downloaded the TD14 VM (40GB) and I started it in
VmWare Workstation 7.1.1
(I do not have a WmWare Server)

Now SuSe linux shows a login dialog.

What can I do to start the database and to connect to the database ?

many thanks in advance

Hi Gerald,
did you follow this link on the download page?

In the "Getting Started" part you'll find everything you need :-)

Hallo Dieter!

many thanks, it helped!
now that Teradata Studio is connected I need to know 2 things:
1.) I cannot find something like "right click -> new table"

2.) what is the normal way - create tables in schema DBC or create table in schema PUBLIC or create tables in schema DEFAULT - what is most commonly used by customers?

many thanks in advance

1) Right click on the schema, choose "new table"
2) Neither. You can't create in PUBLIC or DEFAULT, and DBC should normally be reserved for the system.
Start by creating your own new schema under DBC.
