Senior/Data Hub Technical Specialist
Description
The Senior Data Hub Technical Specialist is part of the Data Hub team who partner closely with the Real World Data (RWD) Science function to provide data for analytics. Roche’s RWD resides within the Data Hub and the Senior Data Hub Technical Specialist is responsible for the management of RWD sources including data uploading, scheduled updates, maintenance and preparing data cuts. The Senior Data Hub Technical Specialist is responsible for providing timely access to RWD and supporting relevant documentation for data users (including standard reports). He/She has in-depth knowledge of the Data Hub data sources and computing platform and collaborates closely with the RWD Science Analysts to provide the right data in the right format for analysis. As well as supporting partners with data requests the Senior Data Hub Technical Specialist also performs computing platform maintenance and develops supporting tools.
Responsibilities

  •  Manage the staging of incoming data, issue resolution with vendors, loading of refreshes, communication on arrival of new data, scheduling data uploads.
  • Collaborate closely with the RWD Science Analysts and RWD Scientists to provide data cuts meeting user and analysis needs. Also ensures RWD source knowledge is disseminated effectively throughout the group.
  • Become the point of contact for Development IT on maintenance of the server and of the analytic environment (opening, closing and archiving user folders and project files).
  • Support the implementation of Glide RWD computer platform.
  • Provide user support with activation and closing of accounts, logins, etc., including maintaining metrics of database use.
  • Provide ad hoc technical support as needed.
  • Support governance according to the data vendor’s contract to prevent misuse of data and provides a monitoring dashboard of RWD use across Roche functions.
  •  Implement audit readiness and audit support activities.
  •  Implement standards to improve efficiency and effectiveness and works with Informatics to introduce new technologies and tools.
  • Proactively raise ideas and solutions.
  •  Responsible for fit for purpose training on access and use of Data Hub data sources for all users (including new RWD sources).
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of available RWD.
  • Build close working collaborations with Biometrics colleagues, Informatics and other PD functions and Affiliates.
  • Take a lead role on aspects of technical infrastructure or functional excellence initiatives as required.

Who You Are
Candidates for this position must possess a BS/MS or advanced degree in Computer Science, Biomedical or Clinical Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics or similar academic. Experience in SAS, SQL, managing and querying databases and knowledge of common medical coding, basic analytics and statistical analysis is required. Exposure and experience of using ETL tools (e.g. PowerCenter) is essential for this position, as well as the ability to readily learn new software applications and techniques.

  •  Experience managing healthcare data to an Industry, Academic or Research setting.
  •  Knowledge of drug development (pre-clinical, clinical development and post-marketing) and experience with international regulatory and ICH GCP guidelines.
  •  Knowledge and experience in the application of RWD and familiarity with Big Data system platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data/information architecture principals.
  • Understanding of Drug Development and Healthcare environments.
  • Strong understanding of structured and unstructured data retrieval and management techniques.
  • Knowledge of relational database principals and corresponding query language skills (e.g. SQL, NoSQL).
