syntax for searching by wildcards

Hi,

I'm pretty new to Teradata coding and have a question on syntax for searching using widcards...

I have a filed in my database that has a 4 digit code and I want to seach for when one of the digits in the 4 char code is a specific number. for example, the field contains the following values:

record1 - 0010

record2 - 1010

record3 - 1000

I would like to be able to pull records that have a 1 as the third digit ( **1* ) and in this case it would return record1 and record2 but not record3.

What syntax would I use? I've tried % but that looks for anything preceeding or post.
