How does queryband help in getting skew information ?

I was reading one of the manual and it says that by using substr in queryband , we can get the skew information , can someone shed light on it.?

I don't know what you mean.
Could you post where you found anything like that in the manuals?

I will throw in a guess as to how querybanding and skew could be related. Querybanding is done through a "SET SESSION" or "SET TRANSACTION" statement and provides additional information about that query to Teradata. A common use case would be knowing the user behind an application query. So the relation to skew information may be that I could determine the actual user submitting the query through the application causing the skew versus only knowing the application.
