DB2 to Teradata Migration

Hi,
I am presently working on DB2 to Teradata migration. I am trying to convert one DB2 data-type to its Teradata equivalent. Can anyone please help me figure out what will be the Teradata equivalent for the following DB2 data-types -

  • TIMESTAMP(6) WITHOUT TIME ZONE
  • CHAR(x) FOR SBCS DATA

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Raj

TIMESTAMP(6) is directly equivalent to TIMESTAMP(6) WITHOUT TIME ZONE
CHAR(x) FOR SBCS DATA might be CHAR(x) CASESPECIFIC CHARACTER SET LATIN and you may also need to set COLLATION for your session / user to MULTINATIONAL. It really depends on which "SBCS" code page is in use and whether the data contains any special characters. Teradata LATIN is not exactly the same as any of the DB2 code pages. And you need to be careful to specify correct "client character set" when loading data - DB2 tends to load invalid data "as-is" while Teradata will replace invalid code points with the error substitution character.
