Dependancies on DBC for Data Processing

Hi guys,
I would like to understand peoples views on utilising DBC for dynamically generating scripts for data processing.
Considering DBC is Teradata's own metadata store and the development of this is owned and managed by Teradata do you feel it appropriate to develop frameworks for processing data based upon this?
I would like to understand your views and rationale behind it.

Other Databases that I know and work are using metadata  in conjunction with scripting ( say unix). Automation scripts to serve a business purpose are necessary. Product companies do not cover the entire business cases totally. That is one of the reasons why Service companies are eating up their budget :).
My thought :).

There are many implementations which use metadata for the processing or logging purpose. It should be used and there is no issues with it.

The only concern that comes in my mind would be changing of any metadata table causing your working code to not work after upgrade, but that can be checked before-hand.
