Visualizing and Analyzing Teradata Workloads
My batch is completing late, the tactical queries show inconsistent response times, some applications show extreme variability in resource consumption, the canaries are hoarse!
Bad queries need to be fixed! We will explain why certain queries are bad and visualize how they impact Teradata performance. We will show how to find them, discuss most common mistakes, and give tips on how to fix them. Techniques to measure 'incoming traffic' from highly volatile applications will be discussed.
Bad queries need to be fixed! We will explain why certain queries are bad and visualize how they impact Teradata performance. We will review in detail the important data needed to support Performance Tuning, Workload Management and Capacity Planning. We'll discuss how to use that data to measure query performance and run through scenarios to turn that data into information you can use to solve some of the most common performance issues on any system.
Key Points
- With all the performance data on my system, how should I log, store and maintain it?
- How to relate system KPIs to workloads?
- What are the best practices to identify the most common performance issues?
