How to transform an LDM to a PDM / Building block or Datamart? Topic by Koentje 08 Aug 2016 FSLDM PDM Building Block Modeling Transformation

We were starting the eDWH in the early 2000 by impleting the FS-LDM as a physical model (more or less, slightly adapted to our needs).
This is working fine, but there are also, let's say from business side, remarks on the implemented PDM, especially on the 'complexity' (you need to join a lot of tables...)

Does Teradata have a probit or Normal dsitribution function Topic by pimkuurman 27 May 2013 Probit, Normal Distribution

I've made a probit regression model using a statistical package. I'de like to use Teradata to score our customers. For this I need a function that converts a real value to a probability value (value between 0 and 1) based on the normal distribution. Is there such a function, or method to do this in Teradata SQL? In Excel for example this function is called NORMDIST().

FSDLM and SCD type 2 Topic by Learneveryday 13 Aug 2015 FSDLM, FSDM, SCD, Type 2

We are implementing around 400 tables of the FSDLM (insurance extension).  Can anyone give insight into which table types in the FSDLM should be type 2?  Also what are the advantages/disadvantages of making all of them type 2 versus only some of them?

Thanks.

Surrogate vs business keys Topic by goldminer 26 Feb 2014

I know what the documentation generally states about using surrogate keys vs business keys, but I would like to know what everyone in the real world is doing.  I have a couple of questions:

1.  Does anyone work in a DW group that utlizes nothing but surrogate keys in their base (3nf) and semantic (dimensional) physical data bases?

Physical Database Design - Selecting primary Index Topic by TD_DEV245 26 Apr 2015 primary index, Physical Database Design, data modelling, Selection of Primary Index

Hi All,

I am doing physical Database design in my project. LDM(3rd normal form relation model) is done and I am in the process of selecting primary index for the tables.

According to my understanding we must consider both Access path(Join processing) and Data distribution while selecting the primary index. I have three types of tables in the LDM.

Table with Primary key and Primry Index Topic by Tdarc1 21 Apr 2015 PK, pi, archive and rcovery

Hello, In our EDW a table is defined with PI on a coumn and Primary key on two other columns . We are running into maintenance issues due to the PI and Primary key. Can someone sugest if this is a good modeling practice ? if yes is thre an alternate approach instead Primary key.  USI is not an option since USI also causig overhead.

Thanks,
